Phed: Phed Opens Window For Water Connections In Highrise Bldgs | Jaipur News

Jaipur: Although the gazette notification for the policy for water connections to high-rise buildings in the state is still pending, Public Health and Engineering Department (PHED) officials have already opened the windows for applications for new connections. Builders or members of the Residents’ Welfare Association (RWA) can now start applying for the new connections.
“Builders or RWA can start applying for the new connections. Post applications there are a few steps before we would provide the connections to the buildings. By the time PHED officials complete those steps, the notification would be issued,” said a PHED official.
In order to apply, a builder or RWA should visit to the nearest superintendent engineer’s office. Here they have to fill up the application form mentioning the number of flats, members of each flat and total carpet area of the residential or commercial space in the entire complex. A copy of the building sanctioned planned also needs to be submitted with the application.
“After receiving the applications, PHED engineers would verify a few things. Like the infrastructure available in the location of the building, total carpet area available in building physically and would then determine the quantity of water to be supplied and would calculate the one-time fee,” said a PHED official.
The government has fixed a one-time fee of Rs 25 per square foot of the total carpet area and Rs 42 per square foot of the total carpet area in commercial buildings. In multistorey buildings with mixed usage, it will be Rs 25 per square feet of the total carpet area of the residential area and commercial rates for part of the building being used for commercial usage.
“Builders or RWAs then have to deposit one-time fee and PHED would provide the connection. However, PHED would provide water supply only till the ground floor reservoir. Arrangement for flat-to-flat distribution would be made by the builders or RWAs,” said an engineer from one of the circle offices in the city.
RWA or builder can, for the time being, pay 25% of the one-time fee.
