Pilot Says His Yatra Is Getting ‘significant Public Support’ | Jaipur News
JAIPUR: Even as top Congress leaders strategise to address the “challenge’ posed by former deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot, currently on ‘Jan Sangharsh Yatra’ to protest corruption and question paper leaks in the state, Pilot has said that he is receiving “significant public support”.
According to him, the issues he has raised are essential and require urgent attention. Talking to media, on the fourth day of his yatra, Pilot said, “We are getting people’s support because our issues are essential. The chief minister is the face of the state and CM Ashok Gehlot and I will have to unitedly fight against corruption. But the CM has not taken any action. I have been writing letters for a long time to take action against issues of corruption.”
Sachin Pilot has been outspoken about what he perceives as inaction by the Ashok Gehlot government regarding the alleged corruption during the previous Vasundhara Raje-led BJP government in the state.
Pilot is holding the five-day Jan Sangharsh Yatra from Ajmer to Jaipur. Meanwhile, on Saturday, after the meeting, state party in-charge Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa said that the Pilot’s yatra was a “personal” one and the party was “keeping an eye on it”. “A full report will be sent to the high command after the return of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge from Karnataka,” he said.Senior Congress leaders, including Randhawa, state unit chief Govind Singh Dotasra and co-in-charges Qazi Muhammad Nizamuddin, Amrita Dhawan and Virendra Rathore attended a meeting at the party’s Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Road office in Delhi.
Rajasthan will go to polls later this year, where the party is seeking another term ahead of the Lok Sabha polls in 2024.
