Pink Bollworms: Sriganganagar Farmers In Jaipur To Seek Compensation | Jaipur News

Jaipur: A group of farmers from Sriganganagar assembled in the state capital on Tuesday to raise their demand for full compensation for cotton crops damaged by pink bollworms and untimely rains.
The farmers reached the secretariat in the morning but were not allowed to hold protests there. Later, they reached the CM’s residence, where they demanded to meet the CM’s officer on special duty (OSD).
“The officials heard us but didn’t give any assurance on fulfilling our demands. There are just a few days left for the election commission to declare the model code of conduct for state polls, so whatever the government has to do has to be done within a few days,” said Amar Singh, one of the farmers who came from Sriganganagar.
The farmers then held their protest at the city’s Shaheed Smarak. They said that for the past one month they have been complaining that their cotton crops have been destroyed by pink bollworms. The untimely rains that lashed the region towards the end of September added to their woes, they said.
