Prem Chopra calls Ranbir Kapoor ‘tremendous’ in ‘Animal’, talks about the evolution of bad boys in Bollywood movies | Hindi Movie News

Prem Chopra was always known for his ‘bad boy’ roles in movies and he was quite stereotyped in that zone ever since he started out. He played them so well, that many also thought he was actually not a good man for real! The actor was recently seen in ‘Animal‘ and was loved for his cameo in the movie.
‘Animal’ can be termed now as the most talked about movie of the year.But Chopra has defended the movie and Ranbir’s character in the film saying that these days, negative characters are justified, which wasn’t the case earlier. Chopra said in a chat with PTI, that in earlier days, they were just stamped as the bad guys straight away – be it him, Amrish Puri orPran. People knew that they will be up to some mischief.
But, Ranbir Kapoor was given a reason for his revenge in the film. Earlier, negative characters were in the movie to make the narrative interesting but now, every negative character has a reason for them acting a certain way.
Chopra also spoke about how Bobby got a lot of love for his role in the movie despite being mute. He gave an example of his role in ‘Bobby’ where Chopra had just one dialogue and yet it became his most famous dialogue. He said that now people accept main lead actors to have negative shades if they have a good reason. But earlier, people were not able to adjust to actors who were playing the bad guy.
The veteran actor also praised Ranbir Kapoor’s performance in the movie. Prem Chopra had worked with Ranbir in ‘Rocket Singh: Salesman Of The Year’ as well. Lauding Ranbir’s performance, Chopra said that he’s terrific in ‘Animal’. It’s a very complicated and difficult role, but Ranbir has done a great job.” He also praised Bobby saying that he was also quite terrific in his cameo, and every actor in the film was good.
