Pressure Cooker: Woman Killed As Pressure Cooker Blasts While Cooking | Jaipur News

Jaipur: A 47-year-old woman was killed in a pressure cooker blast at her residence in Bhomia Nagar area of Jhotwara on Monday morning while she was cooking. Parts of the pressure cooker got stuck into her various body parts and she sustained grave burn injuries as well.

People in the locality came out after hearing the blast-like sound and informed the police since the woman was alone in her house.
A team of police officers rushed to the spot and took the woman to hospital where she was declared dead. “The woman, identified as Kiran Kanwar, was alone in her house and was preparing lunch. Her son, Surya Pratap had gone to take some books from Vaishali Nagar and her husband had gone to work when the accident took place,” said a senior police officer of Jhotwara police station.

The woman’s husband is an English teacher who works as a guest faculty in private schools and coaching institutes. He had left home in the morning to visit a private school.
Such was the impact of the blast that holes were visible inside the kitchen where the pieces of pressure cooker had hit. “Her face sustained grave burn injuries. A team from FSL also reached the spot. We have intimated her husband,” the officer added.
An FSL officer at the spot said that it appears that the whistle of the pressure cooker was blocked due to which the steam was not coming out and the pressure of the cooker could not be released. “This all resulted in the blast,” said an officer.
