Jaipur: The Rajasthan anti-corruption bureau (ACB) Wednesday arrested a driver for taking a bribe of Rs 1.32 lakh at the behest of Kaman Nagar Palika chairperson, and a local executive officer (EO) in Bharatpur on Wednesday.
DG (ACB) BL Soni said that the chairperson’s husband, Bhagwan Lal, and EO Shyam Bihari absconded following the trap.
“We had received a complaint that Lal and Bihari were demanding a bribe of Rs 1.32 lakh as 3% commission before sanctioning bills of a complainant’s different construction works,” Soni said, adding that an ACB unit from Jaipur, led by Additional SP, Special Investigation Unit (SIU) Bajrang Singh Shekhawat was roped in for probe.
Soni said that ACB units laid a trap and arrested the driver, Hari Singh, who worked for the EO.
Soni said that the chairperson’s husband and the EO fled after they learnt about the ACB’s operation.
