Jaipur: The city police are on high alert after certain groups called for a protest at Badi Chaupar on Wednesday. Several major business associations have also announced that they will close shops from 10 am to 1 pm. Additionally, in order to maintain law and order, police will deploy forces at key locations. The environment in the Walled City has been tense following the death of an 18-year-old and subsequent protests. While numerous social media messages have been circulating online, police have appealed for calm and peace. Police Commissioner Biju George Joseph said that no one has requested permission from the city police, nor police have granted permission to anyone. They have also assured of adequate police deployment.

The mayor assured callers that the problems would be looked into and appropriate actions taken.
