JAIPUR: Covid claimed four lives in the state in the past 24 hours, the latest being a couple of fatalities reported on Monday, which took the overall toll to 9,582.
Bikaner reported its 593rd Covid death, while Sirohi reported its 89th casualty. On Sunday, two persons died of the virus in Jaipur. The state is witnessing slight rise in Covid deaths in the past few days. In July, 15 persons had died of the virus, compared to eight in June and five in May.
Health department officials said most of the deaths happened among elderlies and among those who have comorbidities such as cancer and other chronic diseases.
Besides, 298 persons tested positive in the past 24 hours, taking the overall tally to 12,94,575.
The number of persons who recovered from the virus was higher in comparison to the number of persons who tested positive in the past 24 hours. In the state, 327 persons recovered from the ailment.
Active cases in the state reduced marginally from 2,039 to 2,008 in 24 hours. However, Jaipur’s active cases increased from 551 to 602, the highest in the state.
