Jaipur: A Class 9 student who had run away from home after a fight with her cousin sister allegedly committed suicide by jumping into the Maotha lake situated at the foothills of Amber Fort in Jaipur on Saturday night.
A team from the Amber police station with the assistance of a civil defence team fished out the girl’s body from the lake. Following a postmortem examination, the authorities handed over the body to the family members.A police officer said that Sumran, 15, lived at Thathar Road in Amber and was enrolled in a private school. “The altercation with her cousin prompted her sudden departure from her house at approximately 12:15 am. Despite her family’s diligent search efforts, Sumran remained elusive,” the officer said. tnn
