Murder: Four Arrested, Minor Detained For 18-yr-old’s Murder In Walled City | Jaipur News

Jaipur: The Jaipur police announced on Monday that four persons have been arrested while a minor has been detained for their alleged involvement in the fatal assault on an 18-year-old youth in Gangapole on Friday that triggered tension in the Walled City area. Additional commissioner of police (Crime) Kailash Chandra Bishnoi told TOI that a special investigation team (SIT) has been formed and given the responsibility of probing the death of the youth identified as Iqbal.
He mentioned that the police have arrested the accused Yuvraj alias Raj Kashyap, Shubham Meha, and two other persons, whose identities have not been disclosed yet due to a pending test identification parade (TIP).
“In addition to these four accused, we have also detained a minor for his alleged role in the murder,” Bishnoi said. The victim, a resident of Ramganj Bazaar, was struck with a rod-like weapon and collapsed on the road on Friday night. He was quickly rushed to a hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead. The police had initially said that the incident had occurred shortly after two motorcycles collided just a few minutes prior to this tragic incident.
The youth’s death triggered a series of protests that enveloped several areas of the Walled City, causing tension and leading to major police presence throughout Ramganj, Badi Chaupar and other areas.
Bishnoi stated that the police have also assigned a special cell to monitor social media messages that spread misleading information, as such messages could exacerbate the situation. “A social media cell has been formed to keep a tab on people indulging in misinformation,” he said.
The city police also organised a special meeting at the National Institute of Ayurveda at the Zorawar Singh Gate. This meeting involved members of the peace committee, CLG members and community leaders. who appealed to the residents to maintain communal harmony and peace in the city.

Miscreants entered the market alleys, throwing items from garment shops and causing fear among customers. While the police did not impose curfew or restrictions, people were unprepared for the situation. Markets in Ramganj Bazaar, Johari Bazaar, Kishanpole, and Hawala Mahal closed, leading to a shutdown. Despite police deployment, many tourists were unaware of the situation and expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of warning. However, areas like Bapu Bazar remained unaffected.
