Rain Brings Worries In Hadauti Region; Mustard, Coriander, Maize Crops Hit | Jaipur News
Kota: Midnight winter rain- Mawat that continued till noon at some places on Monday brought worries to farmers in Kota, Bundi, Jhalawar and Baran districts of Hadauti region while damaging mustard, coriander and maize crops and throwing normal life out of gear.
Hailstorms also occurred at some places in Bundi, Kota and Jhalawar districts. Kadodia village in Sunel area in Jhalawar district witnessed hailstones on Monday morning that damaged a considerable amount of mustard, coriander crops. It started raining at around 1 am in intervening nights of Sunday and Monday, which continued till noon causing damage to mustard, coriander, maize crops while hailing occurred in Sunel area, where around 4 inch layers of snow were witnessed over the fields, said Devilal Gurjar, a progressive farmer in Jhalawar.
Hailstorms occurred in Sangod area of Kota district, Sarola, Khanpur, Sunel area in Jhalawar and Manpura in Nainwa area in Bundi district. However, the weather remained dry with cloudy sky in adjoining areas of Madhya Pradesh border, Dug, Bhawanimandi, Eklera, Manoharthana in Jhalawar and Chipabarod and Chabra areas in Baran district, said a senior agriculture official. Standing crops in several places reportedly fell flat by rain throughout the night. The assessment of the crop damage is underway. Initially, 5-10 percent of crops were likely to be damaged, he added.
The wheat crop is at tillering stage and the crop fell flat in most of the portions of over 8 bigas of land, said Om Prakesh Jangid, a farmer in Cheta village of Hindoli area in Bundi district.
