Rainfall: Monsoon Active Again, More Rain Likely Today | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: Mild to moderate rainfall was received in Sirohi, Jalore, Jaipur, Dausa, Alwar, Sikar, Jhunjhunu, Nagaur, Jodhpur, Jalore and Bikaner on Friday.

Rainfall at Sriganganagar and Bikaner added to the miseries of people living at Anupgarh (Sriganganagar), Nokha (Bikaner) and Sri Dungargarh (Bikaner) where many areas were flooded. Mount Abu (Sirohi) received a rainfall of 140mm which was highest in the state.
Met office said that southwest monsoon again became active on Friday and in the next 24 hours there is a possibility of heavy rainfall in Jaipur, Ajmer, Jodhpur and Bharatpur divisions.

People in Jaipur woke up to a cloudy morning which was followed by rainfall in the afternoon. “A rainfall varying from 20-10mm was received across the state and it was widespread rainfall activity that lasted for almost 20 minutes in the afternoon,” said an officer with Met office, Jaipur. Mount Abu was followed by Relmagra (Rajsamand) where a rainfall of 120mm was received, Phalodi (Jodhpur) 110mm, Kothputli (Jaipur) 100mm, Raisinghnagar (Sriganganagar) 100mm, Nachna (Jaisalmer) and Lathi (Jaisalmer) 80 mm and Sikar 60mm. A rainfall varying from 50-10mm was recorded at several places in the state.
Meanwhile, people in Bikaner and Sriganganagar witnessed flooding. “We have been receiving rainfall since Wednesday and such bad is the drainage system that the whole city was flooded on Wednesday. Authorities are always negligent and ignorant towards the challenges ahead of monsoon season,” Jai Prakash Sehgal, a retired government employee of Sriganganagar said.
Many areas at Sri Dungargarh, Nokha, Gadiala, Siyana, Beethnok and Madhogarh witnessed heavy rainfall and flooding. “Our teams are working to clear the water logging since Thursday,” said Bhagwati Prasad Kalal, district collector, Bikaner.
