‘Great development work, welfare schemes of Gehlot govt & 7 guarantees will help me’ | Jaipur News

Prashant Sharma, the Congress candidate in Amber constituency, spoke to TOI at the party’s office in Amber and shared his poll strategy. Excerpts from the interview:
What is your strategy
against your rival in this poll as you are contesting against him for the second time here?
I have 100 per cent support of the people. I have been active for the past five years.Whenever the people needed me, I helped them in whatever way I could. This is why they trust me. The people’s response is beyond imagination. My father (Sahdev Sharma) was a three-time MLA from here and won once in the neighbouring Jamwaramgarh constituency. That gives me a lot of satisfaction while connecting with the people and work for them as a member of the family. I get a lot of affection from the people here. They treat me as a family member.
What have you done in the last five years that makes you so confident?
I stood with the people every time they needed me – be it the Covid pandemic or later. As part of the revenue reforms, a subdivision office was opened at Rampura Dabri village, a tehsil was created in Jalsu, and a sub-tehsil in Chandwaji. A satellite hospital was started in Amber, a community health centre (CHC) was opened in Achrol, a PHC was converted into a CHC in Rojda. A college was opened in Jalsu and a girls’ college in Amber Kasba. Old schools have been upgraded and new Mahatma Gandhi English medium schools have been opened. New gram panchayats and cooperative societies have been created.
Which are the issues you are fighting this election on?
I am going to the people with the seven new guarantees promised by Congress, and the great development work done, and welfare schemes launched by the Gehlot government in the last five years, which will help me. Secondly, we are focussing on issues of supply of water for drinking and irrigation in the constituency.
If you are elected, what are the development work you will focus on?
I will focus on the availability of water for both drinking and irrigation. Nearly 80% of Amber lies in rural areas and has huge agricultural potential. Tourism and transportation are important issues as well. It is a heritage city and, therefore, more facilities are required to be provided to domestic and foreign tourists through Amber Development Authority. I will also try to improve public transport facilities in Amber by introducing a metro rail system and increasing the number of public buses.
