JAIPUR: The state child commission has taken cognisance of molestation of a 17-year-old girl in Jaipur allegedly at the hands of her maternal grandfather following which she ran away to Rajsamand where a case was lodged. The local child welfare committee investigated the matter, following which the commission wrote to Jaipur police.
According to the complainant, the accused who the minor girl looked upon as grandfather though he was a distant relative had been sexually abusing her while she was staying in Mansarovar for past five years. Around 15 days back she ran away to Rajsamand where she registered a case against the accused.
After the case was lodged, the child commission wrote to Jaipur South DCP regarding the matter. The letter enquired about the present status of the case as well as the family situation of the girl. The child rights body also asked for the copy of the FIR along with the statement of the complainant under CrPC section 164 and the measures taken for providing financial aid to the girl under Victims Relief Fund. Apart from this the police have been asked about the development in the arrest of the accused and the reports of the medical examination conducted. The report for the same is to be sent to the commission in three days via email.
Just a few days back, the commission had also taken cognisance of another case in Jaipur where a minor girl was kidnapped and gang-raped, the case for which was registered in Shastri Nagar. Prior to this, they had asked for an explanation when seven out of 40 children at a juvenile detention centre in Udaipur tested Covid positive in a duration of about a month-and-a half. As the commission has started virtual registration of complaints till May 3, officials have asked persons to connect with them through the portal as well as the WhatsApp number.
