Rajasthan: Doctors remove bullet from man’s upper neck area in complicated surgery | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: Kesarmal (35) a resident of Kotputli, had a miraculous escape after being hit by a bullet which pierced his left jaw and lodged near the cranio-vertebral junction. The bullet was quite close to the left vertebral artery, which is a main artery supplying blood to the brain.
He was rushed to the hospital where doctors admitted him and removed the bullet in a complicated surgery. Sawai Man Singh (SMS) hospital doctors said that he had received a bullet in a rivalry.
It was a complicated surgery in which they removed the bullet from the upper part of the neck. Since doctors have to remove the bullet from the area, which was close to the left vertebral artery, there was no margin for error, said Dr Manish Agrawal, senior professor (neurosurgery), SMS hospital.
The doctors removed the bullet using microscopy and fluoroscopy for more precision and accurate surgery.
