Rajasthan govt transfers Rs 147 crore to 6L Palanhar beneficiaries | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: The state government transferred around Rs 146.74 crore for June and July to the banks of nearly six lakh Palanhar Yojana beneficiaries on Monday.
The scheme provides monetary help to orphans, children of widows, children of parents suffering from silicosis, and HIV patients and was originally launched by the previous Vasundhara Raje government.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said it was very limited when it began but he was keen on it as it was a good scheme by the previous government. Not only was the scope of the scheme widened to include nine categories of people under its purview, the amount too has been increased, he said.
Beneficiary children must attend school to avail benefits
The government gives Rs 1,500 per month to orphans aged 0-6 years and Rs 2,500 to those aged 6-18 years. Besides, an additional Rs 2,000 per annum is given for clothes, sweaters, shoes, etc. The scheme also makes it compulsory for beneficiary children to go to school.
He reiterated that he would serve the public till his last breath in whatever capacity. Though he contracted Covid three times, suffered from pneumonia and fractures to both his legs, he has travelled extensively for the last two months without rest to serve the people, he said. He also interacted with beneficiaries of the Palanhar scheme at his official residence.
During a conversation with the beneficiaries of the Palanhar Yojana at the CM House, Gehlot made class-5 student, Harshita from Jaipur, sit next to him and interacted with her. He asked her about her ambition.
