Temple committee assures of flexible timings during occasions like Ekadashi

JAIPUR: After a two-day meeting between the Khatu Shyamji temple committee and the district and police administrations in Sikar, it was decided to keep the shrine open for 24 hours on national and state holidays.
Apart from this, similar arrangements would be in place on special occasions like Ekadashi and also on Saturdays and Sundays when there’s rush.
The two-day meeting which ended on Thursday was attended by district collector Avichal Chaturvedi and SP Kunwar Rastradeep.
“First, for national and state holidays, it has been decided to keep the temple open for almost 24 hours except for a few minutes for Shrangar of Lord Khatu Shyamji. The shrine will also be kept open for 24 hours on Saturdays and Sundays. Basically, the idea is to have flexible timings according to number of devotees visiting the temple,” said Rastradeep.
He added that temple committee members have also assured that they would be flexible in timings during occasions like Ekadashi and other days when heavy number of devotees visit the temple from Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana.
“I think the mutual aim is to ensure de-congestion during the period when heavy flow of devotees is seen. If the temple remains open for 24 hours, it won’t create heavy pressure,” he added.
Apart from this, even on weekdays whenever there is rush, the temple administration will keep the district and police administrations in the loop in deciding the timings of the temples.
“Many a times during weekdays, when there is no national, state or other holidays, rush is seen. During such times, if needed the time of darshan will be extended,” he added.
On Monday, three women devotees were killed and four others injured in a stampede outside the temple.
