Kota: ACB detained two persons who were posing as ACB officials and extorting government officials, particularly engineers in Baran, Nagaur and Dungarpur districts by threatening them of action on complaints which never existed against them.
ACB handed over two accused over to Shahabad police in Baran, where they were booked under various sections. They were produced before court on Friday.
The two accused were identified as Vaibhav Agrawal of Jhalawar and Devendra Rathore of Kota, who are graduates.
They had procured ACB headquarters’ letter pad and receipt slips. They sent notices to identified victims and then mounted pressure to sort out the matter by giving them money. “On the input from headquarters, ACB Kota identified the two persons and detained them on Thursday,” Vijay Swarnkar, ACB, ASP, Kota, said. “Vaibhav and Devendra were well aware of functioning of the government officials and engineers. They would first examine the history of the officer to be targeted,” he said.
