Rajasthan reports biggest single-day spike in Covid cases in 15 days | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: The state on Thursday reported the biggest single-day spike of 39 Covid cases in the past 15 days. On December 8, the state had reported 40 cases. Active cases have increased from 218 to 245 in the past 24 hours.
Around 44% cases were reported from Jaipur. The city reported 17 cases from 10 different areas. Gandhi Nagar reported four cases, three cases each were reported from Ajmer Road and Vaishali Nagar, while one case each was reported from Amer, Civil Lines, Jagatpura, Lal Kothi, Sanganer, Sodala and Station Road.
Across the state, Bikaner reported four cases, Ajmer and Alwar three cases each while two cases each were reported from Bhilwara, Jhunjhunu, Pratapgarh, Sikar and Udaipur. One case each was reported from Jaisalmer and Barmer.
As the state also reported 22 Omicron cases, chief minister Ashok Gehlot will conduct a review meeting with doctors on Friday afternoon.
A senior health department official said they were continuously monitoring the situation and appealed to people to follow Covid protocols to ward off infection risks.
Contacts of Jhalawar Dubai returnee test -ve:
The Jhalawar medical and health department on Thursday heaved a sigh of relief as a total of 42 contacts of a Covid patient, who recently returned from Dubai, tested negative for the virus.
The 42-year-old man visited the Jhalawar district hospital with a fracture in one of his arms, where his swab samples were collected.
