JAIPUR: People in the state who took the courageous decision of donating their near and dear ones’ organs after they were declared brain dead were honoured at a small gathering in the city on Saturday. Their decisions have saved the lives of over 150 people since the state’s first organ donation in 2015.
For 40-year-old donor Mahesh Meena’s mother Vimla Devi and wife Sarita, it was an emotional moment when they were honoured at SMS Medical College. A resident of Jhunjhunu, Mahesh had suffered head injury after slipping on the floor at his house on April 12.
Six families were felicitated by State Organ Tissue Transplant Organisation (SOTTO). “We feel honoured by felicitating these families of organ donors who have saved many lives,” said SOTTO consultant Dr Manish Sharma.
