Rajputs call for bandh in Rajasthan today after Karni outfit leader shot dead | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: A large number of men from the Rajput community gathered outside the private hospital in Mansarovar area where the body of Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi was kept following his killing at his residence.
Family members and Rajput organizations refused to take away the body, insisting on the arrest of the assailants, and announced that a city-wide bandh (shutdown) would be enforced on Wednesday.
Ram Singh Chandlai, president of Rajput Sabha Bhavan, declared, “In light of this brutal killing, a city-wide bandh will be enforced. The government should also provide a compensation package to the family. A decision over what this compensation package should be will be made tomorrow in a meeting at Sabha Bhavan.”
Many private schools, offices, and commercial establishments have also announced that they will remain closed on Wednesday in response to the call by Rajput outfits for a bandh. Though at the time of writing this report, police had not clamped Section 144 anywhere, private institutions have decided to not take the risk.
Manoj Singh, a community representative, stated, “Security was requested multiple times, and the police administration was informed about the threats faced by the SRRKS chief. Unfortunately, police did not heed the requests..”
As news of the killing spread, various areas in the city, including Jhotwara, Khatipura and many others, saw a shutdown, with enraged people taking to the streets and chanting slogans against the administration. They claimed that the city was becoming increasingly unsafe. Mohan Singh, a resident of the same locality as Gogamedi, said, “It is alarming that someone can be shot dead in their house in an upscale locality. The assailants fled on foot and forcibly took a vehicle at gunpoint. Stringent measures must be taken to discourage such incidents.”
Several community leaders, including Pratap Singh and senior BJP leader Rajendra Singh Rathore, arrived at the hospital to participate in the protest. Community leaders demanded that the shooters be nabbed as soon as possible and be hanged, for which the government must ensure no laxity in ensuring justice.
Meanwhile, fear gripped the Shyam Nagar area after the shootout. A posse of policemen and relatives gathered outside the house, but many neighbours locked themselves inside their homes.
