Contract Workers Seek Job Regularisation In Budget | Jaipur News

Jaipur: The contractual workers, working under MGNREGA and in various other departments, demand regularisation of their posts in the Friday’s budget.
Ramswaroop Taak of Samyukta Samvida Mukti Morcha, Rajasthan, said, “Before coming to power, the Congress party had promised regularisation of contractual workers in all the departments in its manifesto. But, even after four budgets, the contractual workers have not been regularised yet. We expect this to be done in the coming budget.”
“The contractual workers felt cheated when the government framed the ‘Rajasthan Contractual Hiring to Civil Post Rules, 2022, in January last year. Recently, chief minister Ashok Gehlot invited suggestions from the employees’ organisations before the budget. In that meeting as well, we raised the demand for regularisation of contractual workers. The chief minister assured us of doing something about our demand,” he said.
“The contractual workers have put forward their demand for regularisation in front of Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi as well during the Bharat Jodo Yatra. Dharmendra Singh Rathore, chairman of Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation, has also assured us of regularisation,” he added.
Amidst slashing of budget allocation for MGNREGA (for the financial year 2023-24) to Rs 60,000 crore by the Centre, there is a demand in Rajasthan to increase the number of working days under the employment guarantee scheme to 200.
Meanwhile, in a bid to boost rural employment, the state government may consider increasing the number of working days under the Chief Minister’s Employment Guarantee Scheme from 25 to 50 days (after completion of 100 days).
