Rape: Life In Jail For Man Who Raped Minor Daughter, A National Athlete, For Yrs | Jaipur News
KOTA: In a verdict delivered within 7 months of trial, a Pocso court in Kota on Thursday sentenced a 55-year-old man to life in jail “till last breath” for the crime of raping for years his minor daughter, a national-level Malkhamb player, who lodged a case of rape against her father on March 9 this year.
The judge cited a stanza from Ramcharit Manas to encourage the survivor, who is now 21 years old, to pursue a sports career and embrace the life ahead of her.
“Awake, for the dark night has passed. The dawn of hope and rising sun beckons you. Go ahead and embrace life, and fly high in the infinite sky,” the judge said in his message to the survivor while giving the verdict.
Terming the crime as one shaming humanity, the judge said that such examples were not found even among devils. public prosecutor Lalit Kumar Sharma said.
Sharma said that the survivor in her statement to the magistrate said that her father had been raping and sexually exploiting her since she was 14 years old.
Police had arrested the father under charges of IPC and Pocso Act and he was in jail since then, Sharma said.
