Rape: Life Term For Man Who Raped Minor | Jaipur News

Jaipur: A special court dealing with POCSO cases in Jaipur district has convicted a man for raping a girl aged 17 years and 10 months and sentenced him to life imprisonment. The court also imposed fine of Rs 1.21 lakh on the man who was 21 years old when he committed the crime.
The court said in its order that the accused had admitted that he and the rapesurvivor were in love and also that he had gone to her house.“Despite all that, the girl was minor. Even if her consent was there in the physical relations, it is not admissible since she was a minor at the time of crime. Apart from this, DNA test and other medical reports proved that the man had raped her,” the court said.
The prosecution told the court that on July 5, 2019, the rape survivor had lodged an FIR at Pragpura police station on the outskirts of Jaipur stating that she was staying at her maternal uncle’s house for studies and had come to the village to meet her parents. On July 4, 2019, when her parents were sleeping on the terrace and she was sleeping in her room, the accused, Ajay Singh, came and raped her. When she screamed, the accused beat her up and threatened to kill the family.
