Riverbed land given to war widow; HC summons Jaipur DC | Jaipur News
JAIPUR: Expressing displeasure over the non-allotment of land to a 78-year-old war widow, Rajasthan High Court has summoned the district collector of Jaipur to appear on August 10. Justice Indrajit Singh issued these directions while hearing the petition of Dariyav Kanwar, whose husband Bhanwar Singh was martyred in the 1965 war.
As per the petition, Dariyav Kanwar was allotted 25 bighas of land in Phulera tehsil of Jaipur as per the government scheme for martyr’s families. The district administration realised later that the allotted land was a riverbed that cannot be allotted. It sent a reference to the Board of Revenue to declare the allotment invalid and allow a correction to be made in the land records.
The Board of Revenue agreed on February 21, 2014, that wrong land had been allotted to the war widow and ordered that its entry in land records be restored only after the district administration allots alternative land to her. But nine years after this order, no alternative land was allotted to her. Even when she approached the high court, there was no response from the district administration.
Expressing displeasure on this, the HC said either the district administration reply in two weeks and tell what happened to the allotment or the district collector of Jaipur remain present in the court on August 10.
OP Mishra, the counsel for the petitioner, said the Board of Revenue had also directed the collector nine years ago to allot another plot of land to the war widow in her home district. “The SDO had then earmarked a plot at Bichoon village on December 4, 2019,” he added.
