Robotic Surgery Ot Re-opens | Jaipur News

Jaipur: For the past five days, the Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital kept the robotic surgery suspended following heavy rain on Monday fearing that it may develop technical problems due to moisture.
The hospital has procured two machines of robotic surgery at a cost of Rs 50 crore each—one has been handed over to urology department while the other is being used in general surgery department.
“For the safety of the robotic surgery equipment, we had taken the decision to stop its use. I have issued directions to to general surgery department to start using it from today,” said Dr Achal Sharma, medical superintendent.
A senior doctor at general surgery department told TOI that many portions of SMS Hospital are witnessing seepages due to rain as the building is quite old.
“Seepage or moisture in the OT is a source of infection. Whenever there is seepage, it is better to close the OT for the safety of the patients undergoing surgery,” he said.
SMS Hospital basement was flooded with water due to heavy rains last Monday.
