Jaipur: Former Sukhadia Univeristy vice chancellor (VC) Prof Amarica Singh, who was suspended on charges of dereliction of duty and presenting an untrue report on the proposed Gurukul University in Sikar, has been exonerated of the charges after a judicial probe.

Governor and chancellor of the university Kalraj Mishra in an order on August 14 directed the state government to pay the salary and emoluments of Prof Singh for the period of his suspension as he had been acquitted of the charges.
When the Gurukul University Bill was to be discussed in the assembly in March 2022, then deputy leader of opposition Rajendra Rathore questioned the report by Prof Singh on the infrastructure and other facilities at the university.

Following the furore over the report, the government ordered a probe by the Jaipur divisional commissioner and, based on his report, suspended the VC on July 14, 2022. The government later ordered a judicial probe under judge Mahaveer Prasad Gupta. TNN
