Rtdc: Rtdc Set To Give 34 Hotels Under O&m | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation (RTDC) has chalked out a strategy to revive its hotels, motels and midway facilities by reviving some of them and giving others to private players under an operation and management (O&M) model.
Additionally, it has decided to give five properties to the government for carrying out other activities as the assets are unrecoverable. It has given one property in Pushkar to the government to develop a trauma centre.
Speaking to TOI, RTDC chairman Dharmendra Rathore said, “We have almost finalized a strategy of reviving the hotels. We will discuss the plan at our board meeting scheduled to take place on March 24. We will release the details after that.”
However, he said that the corporation has taken up renovation work at 10 properties which it will be run by itself. There are 34 hotels and motels that have been planned to be given under the O&M model, said Rathore. RTDC has 74 hotels, models and midways.
With regard to the timeline of issuing tenders for the O&M exercise, Rathore said that it will be done very soon. “The board meeting will decide the dates as to when the tenders will be issues. But I am certain that it will not take much time,” added Rathore.
About the 10 properties which it is renovating, the corporation thinks that they can survive the private competition, but they needed upgradation, which is currently being done.
With regard to the Palace On Wheels, Rathore said the journeys this season have made a profit of over Rs 3 crore and they will run till the season ends in April this year. He also said the luxury train is getting booked for the next season as well.
The major hurdle RTDC faced earlier in leasing out the hotels is the lack of titles. In recent months, the department has been pursuing to get titles of hotels and other assets under RTDC name.
