‘rule Of Law Must To Keep Country United’ | Jaipur News

Jaipur: Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Sunday expressed concern over the murder of jailed gangster Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf Ahmed in Uttar Pradesh and said the rule of law is a must for unity in the nation.
“The nation is watching what is happening in Uttar Pradesh. If there is no rule of law, such events can happen with anyone,” said Gehlot when asked about the two murders at point-blank range when they were being escorted by armed policemen to a hospital in Prayagraj for a medical examination.
Speaking to the media after attending a function at Rajasthan Police Academy (RPA) on Rajasthan Police Day, Gehlot said, “Only if action is taken within the ambit of law, the country will have law and order and remain united, and there will be confidence among all religions and castes. I believe that is the only way.”
“What is happening in Uttar Pradesh is the easy thing to do. The difficult thing, I believe, is to follow the law, maintain the rule of law and ensure justice for everyone,” said the CM.
Earlier, while addressing senior police officials at the RPA ground, Gehlot said that quick justice can never be a solution in a democracy because it will lead to a wrong path. “We have to work against criminals within the ambit of law, just like we have seen in the past one month in Rajasthan,” said Gehlot.
He said Rajasthan recorded a 10 per cent decline in crime due to the “jhukega nahi” (will not bow down) approach of the state police. He also warned the mafia and gangsters to either surrender or meet the same fate as many other criminals have. TNN
