JODHPUR: Amid acute shortage of oxygen for Covid patients in hospitals of Jodhpur, a constant supply of the gas from Bhiwadi has brought a huge relief to both the administration and patients.
Since Thursday, an oxygen tanker is coming from Bhiwadi daily making lives of Covid patients a bit easier.
The first tank of oxygen reached Jodhpur on Thursday through a green corridor. “Since then, we have been receiving one tanker every day with capacities ranging from 11 tonnes to 16 tonnes,” said the principal of SN Medical College, SS Rathore.
RTO RN Badgujar said all these tankers are being taken to Jodhpur through a green corridor where a team of official from the RTO and police escort the truck from Bhiwadi to Jodhpur. The administration, however, is also looking forward to other sources for oxygen with a view to add more capacity. This constant transportation of oxygen from Bhiwadi was supported by two tankers of oxygen from Jamnagar with 13 and 14 tonnes of gas, which reached Jodhpur on Sunday night.
It may be noted that these empty tankers had been airlifted by the IAF to Jamnagar from Jodhpur on Saturday to reduce the travel time.
Jodhpur currently has liquid oxygen storage facilities in MDM and MG Hospitals besides AIIMS.
While MDM Hospital has 20 tonnes storage capacity, MG Hospital has 10 tonnes storage capacity. AIIMS has two storage facilities having 10 and 20 tonnes capacities. Current oxygen requirement for government hospitals is around 2,800 cylinders while for private hospitals it is 1,200 cylinders.
