Sanchore: Discord Over Sanchore Grows In Bjp, 6 Mandal Chiefs Resign | Jaipur News
Jaipur: Opposition within BJP against the nomination of the party’s Jalore MP, Devji Patel, as its candidate for Sanchore assembly seat intensified on Saturday with the mass resignation of six of the eight mandal presidents of the party in the district.
The six mandal presidents sent their joint resignation letter to BJP state president CP Joshi. They said in the letter that they were resigning from their posts en masse with a heavy heart. They made it clear in the letter that they were hurt by the party’s decision to field MP Devji Patel from Sanchore assembly seat by ignoring the sentiments of the party workers. Those who resigned are Pushpendra Vyas of Sanchore Nagar mandal, Sanwalaram Dewasi of Sanchore Grameen, Dungar Ram Jat of Tappi Dungri, Devendra Singh Jhanvi of Kesari, Jaisaram Bheel of Arnay, and Madharam Purohit of Chitalwana.
The six leaders said former MLA Jeevaram Chaudhary and former party candidate Danaram Chaudhary have been playing an active role in the party’s programmes in the area for the last five years. The sentiments of the party workers are connected with these leaders, they said, informing the BJP leadership that there is strong resentment among the workers to Patel’s nomination from Sanchore.
“Devji Patel was a Congress leader before the party (BJP) gave him a ticket for the first time. Jeevaram Chaudhary and Danaram Chaudhary have been seeking the ticket this time, and the party’s decision to give the ticket to Devji Patel came as a bolt from the blue,” said Pushpendra Vyas to TOI.
Jeevaram Chaudhary and Danaram Chaudhary have now come together in opposing Patel’s candidature and demand that any one of them should be given the BJP ticket from Sanchore.
BJP’s decision to field Patel from Sanchore had prompted party workers and supporters of local leaders to attack Patel’s carcade on Wednesday morning. They had pelted stones at Patel’s car when he was returning home from Pathmeda after paying obeisance at the temple of the kuldevi. Patel was not injured, but the windowpanes of some vehicles were smashed. The protesters, holding placards and waving black flags, had blocked Patel’s path and shouted slogans against him.
Police in Sanchore later registered a case against ten protesters by name and about 40 to 50 unidentified people as per the complaint lodged by the MP’s personal assistant.
