World Cup: Delhi Lg Again In Raj To Purchase Statues To Beautify Nat’l Capital | Jaipur News

Jaipur: In search of artefacts and sculptures to adorn the National Capital, Delhi LG VK Saxena yet again visited Rajasthan on Thursday.
Saxena, whose acquisitions from the state in June last year adorned the streets of Delhi during the recently concluded G20 Summit, and won accolades from one and all, is on a two-day visit to the artisan hub of Sikandra in Dausa and Jaipur along with his officials.
“The artefacts and sculptures we are selecting to decorate Delhi would be worth over Rs 3 crore. We have selected them personally and purchased directly from the artisans, removing middlemen and ensuring maximum returns to the craftsmen,” said Saxena from Sikandra.
An admirer of Rajasthan’s rich stone craftmanship, its intricate carvings and designs, Saxena has supported the artisans and their trade when he was chairman of the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC).
“Besides beautifying the National Capital with creations from Rajasthan, we want to generate employment and income for the artisans, a cause I have been committed to ever since my days as the chairman of KVIC,” added Saxena.
Statues of animals, chhatris, fountains, and several outdoor sculptures were selected by Saxena along with the senior officials of the Delhi government. Local MP Jaskaur Meena and Anil Sharma of Rajasthan State Khadi Commission accompanied Saxena during the visits to various stone workshops.
“We are also planning to take all the artisans from Rajasthan who have supplied us the sculptures to Delhi in buses and show them where their creations have been installed,” added Saxena.
