Seizures: Over 700cr seizures made in state; highest in Jaipur |
Jaipur: The state’s department has made total seizures, via various enforcement agencies, of illegal cash and material amounting to Rs 703 crore since the model code of conduct came into effect in the state on October 9. However, the total recovery rate of seized items (which has been returned to public after verification by district election officers) has been close to 2 per cent so far, according to sources in the department.
Jaipur recorded highest in seizures amounting to Rs 110.47 crore followed by Alwar at Rs 38.97 crore, Jodhpur at Rs 34.33 crore, Nagaur at Rs 29.18 crore, Bhilwara at Rs 28.84 crore, Kota at Rs 27.75 crore and Udaipur at Rs 26.71 crore.The maximum amount of illicit liquor amounting Rs 10.98 crore has been seized in Alwar district, and the maximum number of drugs amounting to Rs 12.67 crore has been seized in Bhilwara.
There has been a ten-fold increase in seizures made in the 2023 assembly elections over the 2018 assembly polls in the state. In all, seizures amounting to Rs 70.8 crore were made in the state during the 2018 elections,said state’s chief electoral officer Praveen Gupta. TNN

Cash seizure: DCP & ACP suspended for ‘letting off’ MLA’s son
The Election Commission has suspended three top police officers for their alleged partisan conduct in the seizure of Rs 18 lakh from a car in Musheerabad. The officers failed to book a case under proper sections and did not name the suspects who were believed to be associates of the sitting MLA and BRS candidate from Musheerabad, Mutha Gopal. The suspended officers include central zone DCP M Venkateswarulu, Chikkadpally ACP A Yadagiri, and Musheerabad inspector E Jahangir Yadav. The cash and mobile were recovered from a vehicle in Santosh Elite Apartment.
