September 6: Ec Stresses On Error-free Electoral Roll, Strict Check On Poll Expense | Jaipur News

Jaipur: Chief election commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar and election commissioners Anup Chandra Pandey and Arun Goel on Saturday reviewed the progress of the second special summary revision of voter’s list and stressed on the need to make the electoral roll error-free.
The commission directed the officials of the state’s election department to ensure strict monitoring of election expenditure by keeping a check on transportation of liquor, drugs, cash, and freebies in the state. It asked the department to take immediate action in such cases without waiting for the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).
In view of the forthcoming assembly elections in Rajasthan, the CEC and election commissioners held meetings with divisional commissioners, inspectors general of police (IGPs) of police ranges, collectors, and SPs of all the districts in Jaipur on Friday.
The commission asked the officials of the state’s election department to revise the voter’s list with utmost seriousness, precision, and caution. It also took information about the printing and distribution of EPIC cards.
The commission also reviewed the arrangements in polling stations, availability, and storage of electronic voting machines (EVMs) and VVPATs, human resources, vehicles, and grievance redressal management, and gave instructions to activate the election control room. The election commissioners also reviewed the need for postal ballots during the assembly elections, communication plan, training of officers and employees conducting the elections, law and order situation and SVEEP activities.
Deputy election commissioners Manoj Kumar Sahu, Dharmendra Sharma, Nitesh Vyas, Ajay Bhadu, Hridayesh Kumar, director general B Narayanan, director Pankaj Srivastava, joint director Anuj Chandak and secretary Ashwini Kumar Mohal were present during the meeting. State’s chief electoral officer Praveen Gupta and officials of the state election department were also present.
Later, on Saturday evening, the CEC and commissioners inaugurated the SVEEP exhibition organised by the election department at State Agricultural Management Institute in Jaipur.

The BJP has already announced candidates for 79 seats, with the possibility of surprising selections in the next list. The final decision will be made by the central party leadership.
CEC to visit Jaipur today, to review poll preparedness
The Chief Election Commissioner and other officials will visit Jaipur to review preparations for the upcoming Assembly elections in the state. They will meet with political parties and enforcement agencies, and discuss election preparations with various officials. The visit is part of the special summary revision of electoral rolls, with 5.5 lakh applications received for new additions. The team will also review preparations during a meeting with the Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police.
