Seven rebel BJP candidates who won in Raj look to rejoin party | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: The ‘rebellion’ by seven former BJP leaders, who won the assembly polls as Independents, has not lasted long.
Following the saffron party’s victory, they’re hoping and waiting for a call to rejoin the party and government.
Ravindra Singh Bhati, newly elected MLA from Sheo, met party president CP Joshi in Jaipur on Tuesday, and according to sources, has extended his support to the party.
“The meeting was just a courtesy call and nothing else. Joshi praised the way Bhati contested the polls, which highlighted the issues raised by PM Modi in the election rallies,” said Bhati’s close aide.
Another rebel from Chittorgarh, Chandrabhan Singh Aakya, has received a call from a senior party leader about rejoining the party. He won a high-voltage election against both BJP candidate Narpat Singh Rajvi and Congress’s Surendra Singh Jadawat in Chittorgarh.
“Throughout his campaign, he didn’t criticise any central leaders and only slammed party state president CP Joshi for hatching a conspiracy to deny him a ticket. He is in Jaipur and will take a call on his next move,” said a source.
Raje’s close friend, Yoonus Khan, was denied ticket from Deedwana
Though Congress offered him a ticket, he refused, citing his loyalty to PM Narendra Modi. The party is likely to take him back, considering the Lok Sabha polls next year.
The five others are Ritu Banawat (Bayana), Yoonus Khan (Deedwana), Priyanka Chowdhary (Barmer), Jiva Ram Choudhary (Sanchore), and Ashok Kumar Kothari (Bhilwara).
A former cabinet minister and a close friend of Raje, Yoonus Khan, was denied a ticket from Deedwana by the party, despite a strong pitch by the former CM. He won defeating Congress’s Chetan Singh Choudhary and BJP’s Jitendra Singh. “Khan is in touch with Raje’s team about taking his next action,” said a source.
Banawat rebelled against the party after she was denied a ticket. Her husband, Rishi Banswal, too resigned from the post of district president in Bharatpur.
“She has begun renewing her contacts in the party. Considering her family’s long association with the party, she is confident that she will inducted back again,” said a party leader based in Jaipur.
The BJP has won 115 seats in the assembly elections, giving the party a comfortable majority and making the rebels inconsequential. Senior party leaders had contacted most of these rebels following the exit polls which gave a split verdict. The situation has noe changed after the party got a clear majority.
Meanwhile, the lone Congress rebel who has won as an Independent is Ganeshraj Bansal from Hanumangarh.
