Shabana Azmi, Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Anil Kapoor mourn the demise of ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’ writer Prayag Raj

Veteran writer Prayaag Raj who has worked on many movies with Amitabh Bachchan passed away on September 23 at 4pm. His last rites took place on Sunday morning and it was attended by his family and some friends. He was 88 and passed away due to age-related illness.
Prayag is best known for writing movies like ‘Coolie’, ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’, ‘Naseeb’, ‘Mard’ and ‘Deewana Mastana’.He also directed Bachchan in ‘Coolie’. Clearly then, Big B was saddened to hear of his demise. The legendary actor wrote on his blog on Saturday night, “Last evening we lost another pillar of our great film industry”.
Meanwhile, Abhishek Bachchan also penned a heartfelt note for him this evening. He expressed, “Our industry lost a stalwart recently! Largely unsung, but so influential. Came across this very informative tribute to #Prayagraj ji by my friend Ausaja. Thank you Prayagraj ji for the innumerable celluloid memories and for sharing your talent with us. 🙏🏽”

Anil Kapoor has worked with Prayag Raj on ‘Hifaasat’. He also paid tribute to him by sharing a picture as he wrote, “I’m truly saddened by the loss of the late Prayag Raj. Working with him on “Hifazat” was a privilege. May his soul rest in peace.🙏🏻”

Shabana Azmi mourned the loss of Raj as well. She expressed, “Sorry to hear about the passing away of writer director actor Prayag Raj. RIP”

Prayag had also written ‘Geraftaar’ which starred Big B along with other legends like Kamal Hassan, Rajnikanth. It also had Poonam Dhillon, Madhavi, Kader Khan.
