Jaipur: A police constable posted at Sanganer Sadar police station here was run over by a train while crossing railway tracks under the Sitapura bridge, in Malpura Gate police station area of the city, on Sunday morning.
The constable used to cross the railway tracks every day as he would walk to the Sanganer Sadar police station early in the morning, said an officer at Malpura Gate police station.
Constable Shankar Lal Meena, 39, was posted at Sanganer Sadar police station since 2020.
“On Sunday morning, he started his walk at 5am towards the police station. He used to walk almost a kilometre to reach his workplace every morning. When he did not report to duty till 11am, we inquired about him at his home,” said the police officer. Police said the postmortem of the body would be conducted on Monday after arrival of his family.
