Six killed, 12 injuredas truck overturns onjeep in Dausa district | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: Six people were killed and 12 others injured when a truck laden with soft drinks overturned and fell on a jeep at Ukrand village under Mahwa police station area of Dausa district on Tuesday. The condition of nine out of the 12 are critical and have been rushed to SMS Hospital in Jaipur. Passengers in the jeep were travelling from Mahwa to Mandawar when the accident took place.
According to police, the accident took place around 1.45pm when the driver of the truck applied the brakes suddenly to avoid colliding with a tractor going ahead. “The truck overturned and fell on a jeep coming from the opposite direction. A rescue team with JCB machines, cranes and metal cutters rushed to the spot to rescue trapped passengers,” said Mahwa police station SHO Jitendra Singh.
“Six persons – Ram Khilari(60), Mukesh(33), Ramesh(45), Shabudeen(28), Rohit(15) and Shivlal(40) – died on the spot,” Singh said.
Dausa SP Vandita Rana rushed to the spot to lead the rescue work. “Out of the 12 injured, nine are in critical condition. They have all been rushed to SMS Hospital in Jaipur,” said an officer. The jeep was carrying people travelling to villages between Mahwa and Mandawar. Police have registered a case and have started an investigation into the accident.
