Barmer: Pak Hands Over Barmer Man Who Crossed Border 2 Yrs Ago | Jaipur News

JAISALMER: After getting released from Pakistan’s Hyderabad jail on February 10, Gemraram Meghawal, a resident of Barmer, reached home on Tuesday. Scared of getting caught with his lover, he had crossed the border and went to Pakistan on November 4, 2020.
As soon as he stepped into foreign soil, Pakistan Rangers caught him and put him in Karachi jail from where he was shifted to Hyderabad jail. According to Border Security Force (BSF) official sources, around 2.30pm on Tuesday, Pakistan Rangers handed over two Indian citizens, Gemraram and Raju, to BSF at Atari and Wagah borders. After all the formalities, they were handed to the family members.
Gemraram’s father died around a year ago. Union minister of state for agriculture Kailash choudhary, former MP and Sainik Kalyan Board chairman Manvendra Singh and RLP Supremo Hanuman Beniwal had advocated for him.
Confirming this, Choudhury said that around two years ago, Gemraram had crossed the border and reached Pakistan and was put in jail and after lot of efforts, his release was ensured.
He said continuous efforts were made for his release and external affairs minister S.Jaishankar and Indian embassy in Pakistan were in continuous talks. Soon after his return, he thanked PM Narendra Modi and external affairs minister S Jaishankar.
