Sps In Raj Asked To Be Alert During ‘pathaan’ Screening | Jaipur News
JAIPUR: Intelligence agencies of state police have alerted district police officers to keep tabs on protests over the movie ‘Pathaan’.
A senior intelligence official told TOI that all SPs have been told to ensure that no vandalism takes place anywhere during the screening, which could lead to untoward law and order situations.
“We (intelligence) had issued a list of directions to all field officers several days ago that some controversy is brewing over the movie which warrants constant monitoring,” the official said, adding that SPs have been instructed to ensure that hooligans should not vandalize movie theatres.
The Congress government, already under constant attack by the Opposition BJP over the law and order, is also taking extra precautions in the election year.
As per sources, some outfits objected to certain scenes in the movie, whereas others clamoured for an altogether ban on the megastar Shah Rukh Khan’s movie.
The movie hit screens across the country on Wednesday. While no untoward incident was reported anywhere in Rajasthan, some persons in Udaipur tore a poster of the movie.
The officials said they had issued instructions to officials as soon as the movie began facing backlash online. The intelligence wing of the state police also directed SPs to keep a close eye on protests taking place against the movie in their regions.
“We shared whatever input we had after careful examination of all facts. No violent protest was reported during the screening of the movie on Wednesday” the official claimed.
The sources said that several SPs also kept an eye on outfits and that submitted memorandums against the movie as a sign of their protest. “The monitoring is a routine process of policing, we have to make sure that no group or outfit tries to galvanize a large gathering without police permission,” said an official.
