Sps: Rps Body Seeks Designation Upgrade For Senior Addl Sps | Jaipur News
Jaipur: The Rajasthan Police Service (RPS) association is urging the state government to grant senior additional SPs (addl SPs) the designation of superintendents of police (SPs) which is solely reserved for the Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre.
The association in their letters of demand, highlighted that RPS officers from the 1997 to 2015 batches have all been commissioned in various roles as addl SPs, resulting in a lack of categorisation among senior scale officers who are currently grouped under the same rank.
The association members proposed to the government that addl SPs who have progressed to a higher super time and super time pay scales can be called SPs. Furthermore, they argued that all addl SPs currently bear a similar rank insignia. “We are advocating rechristening of designations for addl SPs on higher super time pay scale. The government can give them designations of SPs,” said one RPS officer.
The association member pointed out RPS officers complete their service in only two ranks, first beginning as deputy SPs (DSPs) and then, moving forward to addl SPs. “There are no further avenues in terms of ranks and designations for us,” expressed an official, suggesting that RPS officers promoted to the higher super time pay scale should be recognized as SPs. In Rajasthan, the rank and nomenclature of SPs are presently reserved for Indian Police Service (IPS) officers.
“Assigning the same designation to an RPS official moving up from the senior to the higher matrix is not justified. We have given our list of suggestions for designations followed in several states,” the official explained.
Association members said the need to streamline the police hierarchy was also important to distinguish seniority just like in the IPS cadre.
