Street Vendors: Street Vendors To Be Booked For Destroying Blocks At Lal Kothi | Jaipur News

Jaipur: Officials of the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) have decided to lodge formal complaint against street vendors for destroying the blocks installed for beautification on the road adjacent to the Lal Kothi Sabji Mandi.
JDA had procured these blocks depicting Rajasthani themes as a part of the Signal-Free Project at the Laxmi Mandir Tiraha.
There are allegations that these street vendors had uprooted them so that they can place their carts on the roads to sell products. This has damaged government property worth lakhs.
“We have decided to lodge a formal complaint against these street vendors. These vendors had not only blocked these roads but are also inviting private vehicles to be parked on the road where we had constructed the underpass,” said a JDA official.
Engineers of JDA had earlier lodged a complaint with the Jyoti Nagar police. JDA officials alleged that instead of accepting the compliant against street vendors, police were trying to evacuate a few of street dwellers who stay in the adjacent pavements.
“Since officers of Jyoti Nagar Police station were trying to defend the street vendors, we did not pursue the complaint. However now, we are going to lodge a fresh compliant at senior level,” said an official from JDA.
“Earlier, when we tried to remove the street vendors a senior and known politician had created ruckus and stopped us from doing so,” the JDA official added.
