Student Awareness: Cops Educate Students On Staying Safe Online, Offline | Jaipur News

SP Jaipur (Rural) Rajeev Pachar said that there is an increasing number of dangers that assail minors, and many of them may not know how to guard themselves in such situations.
“We went to 150 schools with the aim of educating children about their rights and the legal provisions available to them under the Protection of Children Against Sexual Offences Act (POCSO),” he said.
Several station house officers (SHOs) and deputy SPs (DSPs) were part of this campaign which was attended by over 40,000 kids.
“We spoke to kids about how they should be careful before sharing their photos with others online, especially with strangers. We also advised them on key points of safe internet browsing,” Pachar said.
DSPs told children that the photos they share could also be misused by miscreants who can use software to morph them. Students were also informed about how some people use fake identities to chat with minors. Another important point of discussion included the concept of “safe gaming”.
“There is a whole new array of online gaming wherein people can talk to each other while playing. There are possibilities that sometimes children may be influenced by complete strangers, which is also a new danger fast emerging,” Pachar said, adding that SHOs informed kids about important safety features to follow while playing online games.
He said that the campaign was part of a broader mission of the Rajasthan police to bring more awareness to minors about their rights and safety guidelines.“We thought that we can go from school to school and help create awareness amongst children about traffic rules, cyber security, etc.,” he said.
