Student Leaders: Former Students’ Union Leaders Attend Meeting Over Ru Election | Jaipur News

Jaipur: A discussion was organised by student leaders at Rajasthan University on Wednesday, where former presidents of the student union who are currently MPs or MLAs participated.
Over 20 leaders from different political parties including leaders from Congress were invited for the discussion, but political leaders from Congress party did not attend the discussion on Wednesday. However, Lok Sabha MP Hanuman Beniwal, MLA Ranveer Gudha, among others attended the discussion.
Vinod Bhudoli, a student leader at RU said, “We had invited leaders from different parties who have previously held the post of president or other posts in student unions at RU or other universities. Congress leaders cancelled and said that they will discuss our issues with the chief minister.”
Students at RU and other major universities of the state have been protesting for the past two weeks against the state government after it announced it would not hold student union elections this year. Students said that this year around 15-20 vice-chancellors have written to the state government stating that they will not be able to conduct elections as universities are using all resources for implementation of National Education Policy and the admission process, after which the government made the announcement.
