Suicide: Constable Found Dead In City, Cops Suspect Suicide | Jaipur News

Jaipur: A 45-year-old police constable was found dead inside his house in Rajawas locality under the Harmada police station area of Jaipur on Wednesday early morning.
ACP (Chomu) Kailash Jindal said that Mangal Chand Saini was posted at the Banipark police station of the city. “He had returned home after attending a farewell party of a colleague. His wife and a daughter had gone to their village,” he said.
Police said that on Wednesday morning Saini also spoke to the newspaper hawker and later found hanging. They suspect that the death as a case of suicide but said that a probe was underway.
A senior official of the city police said that the constable had spent nearly 23 years in the service and lived with his wife, and three children in the house.
Jindal mentioned that one of the deceased constable’s daughters was scheduled to have an engagement ceremony next month, and his wife had gone to their village to make the necessary arrangements. Police said that the family members saw the body and informed the police about the incident. A team from the Harmada police station also reached the scene and shifted the body to the mortuary of a local hospital.
Police said that the reasons behind the constable taking the extreme step remain a matter of investigation. The sources, however, said that constables in the city police often work in very challenging circumstances.
“The duty of a constable mandates long and gruelling work hours with minimal days off. Additionally, duty hours often extend regularly, leading to many constables experiencing mental health issues,” said a constable on the condition of anonymity.
The city police, however, said that they were looking into the case.
