Suratgarh: Ras Aspirant Hangs Self In Hostel | Jaipur News
JAIPUR: An 18-year-old youth ended his life by hanging himself from the ceiling at his hostel room at Suratgarh in Sriganganagar. His family members had been calling him since Friday evening over phone but he was not responding. They reached the hostel on Saturday and found him hanging.
Police are yet to ascertain the reason behind his death. The deceased, identified as Umesh Swami, was living in a hostel at Ward 44 of Suratgarh and was preparing for RAS examination, police said. “He had returned from his village Raisinghnagar on Friday and according to other inmates, he was not seen outside his room after lunch on Friday,” said an officer,
Police said that the matter came to light when his relatives reached his hostel on Saturday morning. “They were calling him to ask for his wellbeing since Friday evening but his phone was switched off. Expecting the worst, they reached the hostel and came to know about his suicide.”
His mother and brother reached the hostel at 7 am and knocked at his door but there was no response. “They informed the hostel authorities who later informed us. We unlocked the door and found the boy hanging from the ceiling,” the officer said.
Deepak Verma, the director of the hostel, said that Umesh had lunch and later went to his room on Friday.
Though no suicide note was found from his room, preliminary investigation suggested that he was upset with something at his village. “Family members stated that he was also unwell for some days. This was the reason why the family members called him to know his wellbeing on Friday evening,” the officer added.
Police on Saturday handed over the body of the deceased to the family members after the post-mortem. “We have registered a case and will probe the reasons behind the suicide,” the officer said.
