Two daughters of deceased woman with relatives in Kota on Sunday
KOTA: Annoyed over day-today scuffles with her husband, a 40-year-old woman along with her five daughters allegedly committed suicide by jumping into a well in her village under Chechat police station of Kota early on Sunday.
The police recovered six bodies from the well on Sunday morning and handed them over to family members after postmortem.
The deceased woman was identified as Badamdevi (40), wife of Shivlal Banjara, a resident of Banjaron Ka Dera, Kaliyahedi village under Chechat police station and her five daughters were identified as Savitri (14), Ankali (8), Kajal (6), Gunjan (4) and one-year-old Archana.
Her two other daughters Gayatri (15) and Punam (7) survived as they were asleep and did not wake up.
“Prima facie, everyday scuffles between husband and wife are likely to be the reason behind the extreme step by the woman,” CO, Chechat, DSP Praveen Nayak said. “The deceased woman’s husband Shivlal worked as blanket and cloth vendor and he had left for condolence meeting at his relative’s home in other village on Saturday noon. He was not present at his home when the incident occurred,” the CO said.
The locals spotted the bodies in the well on Sunday morning following which they informed the police. They rushed to the spot and recovered the six bodies from the well, he added.
The husband of the deceased woman, who returned after getting news about the incident on Sunday morning, also did not mention any reason behind the tragic step.
The police have begun investigation under Section 174 of CrPC to ascertain actual reason of deaths.
The family members have not submitted any report in the matter, CO Praveen Nayak said.
The bodies were cremated in the afternoon on Sunday.
