Jaipur: Aiming to encourage men to adopt family planning, the health department will observe ‘Vasectomy Fortnight’ from November 21 to December 4. Under this campaign, men will be encouraged to adopt sterilisation.
National family health survey-5 shows the contribution of males in permanent family planning in the state has increased marginally from 0.2% to 0.3% in the past five years.This is very less in comparison to women adopting permanent methods of family planning, known as female sterilisation, which has increased from 40.7% to 42.4% in five years.
Chief medical health officer (Sikar) Dr Nirmal Singh said that under the fortnight programme, health workers will make eligible men aware about adopting permanent and temporary means of family planning. Health workers will encourage men to participate in family planning. They will also provide them information about the available means of family planning and will also make them aware about the benefits of a limited family. During the fortnight, the department will organise promotional activities based on the slogan, “Healthy mother, healthy child, when husband’s contribution in family planning is good”.
A senior health department official said that they have taken initiatives to encourage No Scalpel Vasectomy (NSV), a permanent family planning method. tnn

Uttarkashi tunnel crash: Five-option action plan to be adopted to rescue trapped workers, says Road Transport Secretary Anurag Jain
Anurag Jain, Secretary of the Ministry of Road, Transport, and Highways, has announced a five-option action plan to rescue the 41 workers trapped in the Silkyara tunnel in Uttarkashi. Various organizations have been assigned one option each, and additional measures such as installing extra pipes for food support redundancy are being taken. The Border Roads Organisation and the construction wing of the Indian Army are actively participating in the rescue operation. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari emphasized the collective responsibility to save the trapped workers and mentioned the challenges of the rescue operation due to non-uniform soil strata.
