JAIPUR: Over two dozen men waylaid and thrashed two men ferrying cows in a pickup vehicle on Benar Road under Kardhani police station on Saturday.
The pickup driver, Ram Swarup Meena in his FIR to the Kardhani police said that he is a resident of Chatarpura village.
One Munshi Khan, a resident of Harmada, had hired him to transport two cows and calves to Ramgarh Road on the outskirts of Jaipur.
As per the FIR, some persons blocked the road with stones near a temple so that Meena’s vehicle could not go ahead.
As soon as Meena stopped his vehicle, about 10 to 15 men charged at him.
Meena alleged that assailants were armed with sticks and rods, and circled his vehicle. The men began attacking Meena and Khan before smashing the vehicle’s windshields. The accused robbed Khan’s wallet which had a cash of Rs 7,000 and other documents. The accused fled when they saw a police vehicle arriving at the scene.
The complainant’s brother, Ram Meena said that the accused attacked his brother and Khan at about 2am.
“My brother has sustained injuries and he is undergoing treatment in the hospital, including a surgery,” he said, adding that his brother was travelling to Ramgarh Hatwara after a booking was made for the same.
The FIR states that both Meena and Khan have sustained ‘serious injuries’, in the assault. The Kardhani police said that one of the accused, Rinku Kumawat has been identified in the FIR while the others are unknown. The FIR was registered under IPC Sections 143 (unlawful assembly), 341 (wrongful restraint), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), and 379 (theft).
Kardhani SHO Banwari Lal Meena said that the investigation is underway to corroborate what transpired and who were the men who attacked the two persons.
He said that the two persons injured in the accident are out of danger.
