RU: ‘semester Exams In Ru After Elections’ |

Jaipur: Due to the Assembly elections, semester examinations for first-year students will get delayed this year and will take place after the polls, said officials from Rajasthan University (RU).
The academic calendar was issued by the university in mid-October which had mentioned that examinations will be held between December 15-28, but officials said that examinations will get delayed, and a new schedule will be issued.
“With the elections coming up, university premises are being acquired by the election commission, then teachers and staff are also on election duty, due to which conducting examinations on the set date will not be possible this year. As this year, semester system under National Education Policy was also adopted, we are trying to finalise the dates at the earliest, but it is sure that examinations will be conducted after the election process itself,” said a senior official from the university.
In June, the academic council of RU had approved the implementation of NEP in the university. The syllabus was approved by the academic council of the university in September, only after which proper classes started as timetables had not been finalised.
Student bodies in the university said that already classes were delayed and with examinations being delayed the whole academic calendar for the current batch will go haywire.
“First the admission process for first year students was delayed, then classes could not be started on time, and now examinations will also get delayed. For this batch, nothing is happening as per the academic calendar which will impact their future education plans. It is already known that the university takes time in declaring results, with all this, when will the university start the second semester and when will these students get promoted to second year,” said Hushyar Singh Meena, national secretary of ABVP.
